Sealants For Teeth

One of the best ways to prevent tooth decay is with Front Row's specialized protective sealants, which can seal out harmful plaque and tartar-causing bacteria.

How Do Dental Sealants Work?

  • Sealants help prevent decay in molars.
  • Are thin, tooth-colored material painted into the grooves of the back teeth, where most decay begins.
  • They act as protective shield that act as a great method of prevention by sealing out bacteria that cause decay, safeguarding hard-to-reach back teeth.

What is the Process?

Sealants are applied to teeth in various ways, but the most common is a dental adhesive. Adhesive sealants are placed on the chewing surfaces of teeth and adhere to the chewing surfaces and the dentin. First, the sealant is put on the tooth's surface, and then and the adhesive sticks to the tooth. Next, the sealant is placed on top of the tooth and a piece dental plastic is put over it.

How Long Do Tooth Sealants Last?

Sealants last anywhere from 2 to 10 years but typically need to be replaced after five years. Because of this, many things can affect how long a sealant will last. The type of sealant that is used, how well it was placed, how well it was cared for, and how often the tooth was exposed to sugar all affect how long a sealant will last. Ultimately, the best way to ensure that your sealant lasts as long as possible is to see your dentist for regular cleanings and checkups.
